Naman Howell Announces Addition of Kayla Landeros

Naman Howell is proud to announce the addition of Kayla Landeros as a Member in the firm’s Waco office. Kayla’s practice will generally center on real estate transactions, economic development, business transactions, contract drafting, and commercial law.

Prior to joining the Firm Kayla served as City Attorney for the City of Temple. Kayla started with the City of Temple in May 2012 as a Deputy City Attorney and was unanimously appointed to the position of City Attorney in November 2014. Prior to joining the City of Temple, Kayla worked for two established law firms in the Houston area where she gained valuable litigation and trial experience.

Kayla has experience drafting a variety of agreements, including, but not limited to, land purchase agreements, economic development agreements, developer participation agreements, water purchase agreements and construction contracts. Kayla is also well-versed in land use issues, such as planning, zoning and platting requirements. She has a keen understanding of economic development tools which can benefit developers and property owners, including tax increment financing reinvestment zones and tax abatement reinvestment zones.

In her role as City Attorney, Kayla gained extensive experience in the area of property law. As part of furthering Temple’s Strategic Plan related to transportation and utility improvements, Kayla handled the purchase and acquisition of right-of-way and easements necessary for the construction and expansion of important thoroughfares and utility infrastructure projects in the City. She was instrumental in creating, organizing and managing Temple’s right-of-way program. In this role, Kayla gained experience in negotiating land purchases, drafting the necessary conveyance documents, curing title issues, and determining relocation benefits for displaced citizens. She is also very familiar with the eminent domain process.
