Roy Barrett Awarded 2023 Texas Bar Foundation's Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award

Longtime Naman Howell Member and current Chairman of the Board Roy Barrett is one of six recipients of the 2023 Texas Bar Foundation’s Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award. The award recognizes attorneys whose practice has spanned 50 years or more, and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.

Barrett has an extensive career spanning almost 54 years. He joined Naman Howell in 1969, at a time when the firm only had 13 lawyers, and a single office in Waco. He graduated from Baylor Law School ranked first in his class and served as editor-in-chief of the Baylor Law Review. As a trial attorney he has represented various institutions throughout Waco, including Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, numerous central Texas doctors, and the Brazos River Authority, as well as Baylor University.

He will be publicly recognized at the Texas Bar Foundation Annual Dinner held on June 23, 2023 at the JW Marriott in Austin. Naman Howell Members John Palmer, Ben Selman, and Joe Rivera will also be in attendance to support Roy.

The news of his award has been featured on the Baylor Alumni Rocket Docket and Hill College Alumni News
