Legal Assistant - Regulatory Law - Austin

The Austin office of Naman, Howell, Smith & Lee, PLLC, an established, over 100-year-old Texas law firm has an immediate opening for a legal assistant with at least 2 years of relevant legal experience to assist a growing office.

This career opportunity will require assisting with regulatory matters as well as a wide range of business matters, including administrative litigation, government affairs, regulated transactions, contract review, investment/financing, and mergers and acquisitions.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Aiding in responding to discovery
  • Preparing documents for pleadings and hearings
  • E-filing in state and federal courts
  • Scheduling & calendaring
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Opening new files, organizing and maintaining case files
  • Entering attorneys’ time
  • Assisting with monthly billing cycle
  • Making travel arrangements
  • Submitting expense reimbursements
  • Maintaining confidentiality for all cases
  • Other duties & special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years of prior litigation experience required
  • Prior experience in real estate transactions and/or regulatory law highly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and quality; capable of anticipating attorneys' needs
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable with strong work ethic and professional demeanor
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Microsoft Office Suite & Cloud-based systems, E-filing, billing, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking

This is a full-time position with excellent benefits.  Standard hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
