Cullen Smith is an experienced and well known attorney. For many years
he was the firm’s managing partner, president and then Chairman
of the Board. He has also served as the head of the firm’s trial
section. He represented the Texas Governor and the Secretary of State
in redistricting litigation following the 1980 census. He has represented
clients both in and out of Texas in matters involving mergers and acquisitions.
His service as outside general counsel for businesses has given him a unique
insight into the way corporations and clients view their relationship
with attorneys and the delivery of legal service.
With the approval and support of the State Department, he negotiated on
two occasions with representatives of the North Vietnamese government
over their treatment of POWs and MIAs.
He served as a member of the ABA Action Commission to Reduce Court Costs
and Delay and was a member of the American Bar Association Committee on
Complex and Multi-District Litigation.
He has been a frequent lecturer at legal institutes and has had articles
published in numerous legal periodicals. He is author of the chapter “Using
Outliners to Organize Ideas” in the book, Winning With Computers Part 2.
