Title: Retired

Cullen Smith is an experienced and well known attorney. For many years he was the firm’s managing partner, president and then Chairman of the Board. He has also served as the head of the firm’s trial section. He represented the Texas Governor and the Secretary of State in redistricting litigation following the 1980 census. He has represented clients both in and out of Texas in matters involving mergers and acquisitions.

His service as outside general counsel for businesses has given him a unique insight into the way corporations and clients view their relationship with attorneys and the delivery of legal service.

With the approval and support of the State Department, he negotiated on two occasions with representatives of the North Vietnamese government over their treatment of POWs and MIAs.

He served as a member of the ABA Action Commission to Reduce Court Costs and Delay and was a member of the American Bar Association Committee on Complex and Multi-District Litigation.

He has been a frequent lecturer at legal institutes and has had articles published in numerous legal periodicals. He is author of the chapter “Using Outliners to Organize Ideas” in the book, Winning With Computers Part 2.
